Not much has changed in these two photos over the years. The corner building , of which the Post Office is down stairs and the Masonic Lodge upstairs.The main difference is the removal of the large chimney on the roof of the Post Office

Poosie Nansies
at the corner of Cowgate

Poosie Nansie's is probibly the most famous building in Mauchline attracting visitors from all around the world because of its connections with Burns. Burns in fact did most of his socialising in the Whitefoord Arms which was situated to the right of these pictures and is now a sports shop. Poosie Nansies was built in 1700. The picture on the left was taken around 1880.

Loudoun Street

Comparing the two photos the top half of Loudoun Street has not changed a great deal. The main difference being the shop front have been modernised and the sandstone painted.

Half way down
Loudoun Street

Half way down Loudoun Street we see the buildings haven't changed to much except for the front of the shops with thier new windows. The shop on the left hand photo is of W.F.Blair who was a local baker. the shop today is a fancy goods shop and a video outlet. Back
