| The Cowgate links Earl Grey street to Loudoun Street and until around the 1820's when Earl Grey Street was opened it was the main route south out of Mauchline. The house on the left corner near Loudoun Street was ocupied by the James Armour, father of Jean, who married Robert Burns in 1788. The photo on the left was taken about 1870 | |
